Amy Farid moved to New York City on a Greyhound bus in 2000 with a singular goal: to become an editorial hairstylist. She quickly landed an assisting position at Bumble and bumble, where her passion and natural skill caught the attention of founder Michael Gordon. Recognizing her talent, Gordon opened doors for Amy to assist some of the most influential hairstylists in fashion. Soon she became a backstage regular across New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks, honing her craft among industry greats.

While Amy’s career has since expanded to include editorial work, photoshoots, and red-carpet styling for celebrities, she has remained deeply committed to her haircutting clients. Many of them have been with her for more than 20 years, following her from the early days at Bumble to Suite Caroline and beyond.

Specializing in both razor and scissor cutting for all hair types, Amy approaches each haircut as a piece of “couture for your hair,” thoughtfully shaping every look based on a client’s head shape, texture, and lifestyle.

A resident of Beacon since 2014, Amy is excited to continue building her Hudson Valley clientele and to welcome new and longtime clients alike to The Chisel.
