The CULTURE CLUB
The Culture Club reimagines the hair salon as a modern cultural salon — a place where people gather not just for beauty, but for music, ideas, food, and community.
Salons and barber shops have always been a kind of “third-place:” neither work, nor home. A place where beauty, art, identity and conversation intersect.
Most Culture Club events are donation-driven, with 100% of the proceeds going to support the artists involved in making them happen.

Caring for your child's or teen's curls can cause anyone to get tied in knots. If you've dealt with your share of tears over gnarly curls and frizzy hair, join us in person for The Ponytail Project's Curly Care 101! We'll help parent-child duos understand the fundamentals of keeping curls looking healthy, bouncy, and fabulous as they grow, empowering them.

Your Hair Lab: A safe space for LGBTQIA+ folx and their hair

Join stylist Shane Francis for an open discussion and workshop about what hair means to us and how it shapes our individual identities. We'll tackle those styling questions and curiosities you might not feel comfortable asking in a conventional setting. This lab will cover styling skills for all hair textures, helping you hone a skill set that brings you joy at home and achieve a dream style that reflects your true self.
Prepare to get noticed: PROM EDITION

High school students are invited to The Chisel to choose from a set menu of prom hair styling services. Like most of our Culture Club offerings, these appointments are offered on a pay-what-you-wish model to ensure that more folks are able to feel pampered and fabulous for prom.

Crafted Cuts: A Collaborative Dinner with DAVE THE BUTCHER

This urban farm dinner will be an ode to two skilled trades learned over years and passed down through generations: Butchery and Hair Cutting. With the rise of AI, skilled trades that are built on the human touch become ever more precious and vital. Cohosted with our friends at Dave the Butcher, and featuring the chance to meet The Chisel’s and DTB’s emerging generation of artists, this multi-course chef’s dinner will be a wonderful chance to meet friends and neighbors in a comfortable and vibrant atmosphere. (Vegetarian and Gluten-free options will be available when purchasing your tickets.)

The Sunday Letter Project

When was the last time you wrote a letter. And no, we don’t mean that email you banged out using Gemini while balancing a cup of coffee in one hand, and multiple Zoom windows with the other.
We mean a good, old fashioned letter.
The Sunday Letter Writing Project is your weekly invitation to balance. To recalibrate, reconnect. To go back to basics and remind yourself of what is really important.
By signing up for the project, you will take a pledge: a pledge to take a pocket of time each Sunday and dedicate it to yourself, your loved ones or your community. Then-and this is the fun part—you simply visit The Chisel on Sundays to pause, think, and write.
We will have the espresso machine and the kettle on. We’ll have stationary, envelopes, pens and stamps. You just need to show up, let the words come, and see what grows.
